Featured Bride, Lauren W. Wedding Location: Wayzata, MN | Wedding Date: October 8, 2011 Wow, time flies. I feel it was just yesterday that we were standing in the apple orchard, with Ben on one knee and tears in my eyes. It's amazing to have already gotten this far! One thing I must say, if there are any brides out there who are deciding when to have their wedding, is:
Give yourself a year to plan!
I can't say that enough. Here are my reasons:1. More time = less stress.
It is so nice to have the time to really research everything before deciding on key aspects of your wedding day, such as vendors, the menu, and other small details. Also, I love being able to actually say (in the words of Scarlett O'Hara), "I'll think about that tomorrow."2. More time = less cost.
Having our wedding almost exactly one year out from our engagement also allowed us to stock up on decor items after the season was through for some nice discounts and great finds! It also aided in our honeymoon! We got to book before gas prices went up!3. More time = more options.
For many vendors, 9-12 months out is pretty average to book. This goes for photographers, DJs, videographers and of course venues. Having that much time allowed us to have our first pick at everything!4. More time = more time.
Above everything else, we have loved just enjoying time together. It has been so much fun bouncing ideas off each other and enjoying every moment of being engaged. There is a lot of planning that goes into a wedding, and I am so thankful that we had the amount of time we did to make everything the fairytale we wanted. Cheers!
