Everything You Need to Know About Velvet Bridesmaid Dresses

When it comes to velvet, just know that this trend took us by surprise too. We had no clue that we were staring down the barrel of a gun that is 70s fashion as we headed into the 2010s (and now 2020). And now that the 70s have crept up on us, velvet bridesmaid dresses are now all the craze in the wedding industry!

Let me be super clear: I am NOT mad about it. There is literally not one thing to not love about velvet. Velvet adds fantastic texture and variation to any look. It's soft and warm. Velvet is so soft that it makes me feel like I'm slumming it on my couch like the bum I am, even when I'm shopping at Target. I also just adore how eye-catching velvet truly is--what a true statement fabric!

Since we've been in the wedding industry for quite some time, we've seen all of the trends. From shiny silk wedding dresses to chunky lace appliqués to flowy a-line tulle gowns, we've gazed upon it all. When I say that velvet is one of my favorite wedding trends of 2020, I mean it!

Love the velvet, one of my bridesmaids said that they felt velvet stuck to itself and other things, is that just a sign of bad velvet?

My mom wore a velvet bridesmaid dress in a wedding many many years ago when she was pregnant with me, and then she made it into my Christmas stocking. So special!
