Friends: The One with Pheobe's Wedding

This week’s Monday Memorable Wedding Moment comes from one of television’s greatest shows: Friends.  The last wedding featured in the series was that of quirky character Phoebe Buffay, played by Lisa Kudrow, and her fiancé, Mike Hannigan, played by Paul Rudd.  Phoebe’s wedding was beautiful, though it didn't happen without a few mishaps along the way.  My Wedding Chat is going to show you how you can achieve Phoebe’s wedding day look and draw inspiration from Phoebe and Mike’s entire wedding celebration.

Phoebe and Mike’s romance started out as anything but typical; a perfect fit for this unconventional couple.  It all began when Joey and Phoebe agreed to set each other up on blind dates, a task that Phoebe took very seriously.  The day the dates were supposed to take place Joey suddenly realized that he had forgotten to find a date for Phoebe.  In a panic, he told Phoebe that the name of her supposed suitor was Mike.  Joey then proceeded to shout out the name “Mike” at Central Perk in hopes that he would find someone to take Phoebe out.  In steps Mike Hannigan who agrees, begrudgingly, to do it.  Little did he know, he was about to meet the woman he would spend the rest of his life with. Phoebe and Mike enlisted the help of all the 'friends' to make their wedding day special.  Monica was hired and fired, and then hired again, as the wedding planner. She used her extreme organizational tendencies to perfect the wedding day even in the midst of a blizzard that shut New York City down. When the minister can’t make it due to the weather, Joey performs the ceremony, while Ross carried Mike's family dog Chappy down the asile, and Monica and Rachel were Phoebe's beautiful bridesmaids. Unhappy that he wasn’t chosen to be a groomsman, Chandler is happy to find he can escort Phoebe down the aisle since Joey was moved to the position of the new minister.  In the end, the ceremony took place outside under the falling snow amidst the glowing candlelight.

The dress.

Phoebe’s wedding dress was very traditional, a surprise to many as her personality is just the opposite.  She looked stunning in a silk, a-line gown with beautiful gathering on the right side of the skirt.  Phoebe’s dress also featured cap-sleeves and a corset-like bodice that flattered her figure.  The dress was made in a beautiful pearlescent shade of white in which she glowed.  Phoebe’s headpieces were just as beautiful; her veil was an elbow-length white veil accompanied by a jewel-encrusted headband.
