Included in popular wedding ceremony traditions is for the groom to not see his bride on their wedding day until she is walking down the aisle. It is a superstitious good luck charm for the groom not see the bride, especially in her dress, until the big moment. However, many modern brides are now choosing to meet with their grooms for an intimate first glimpse (and maybe even a kiss!) moments before the ceremony is to begin. This has become a new way to include some unique wedding photo ideas that the couple will remember and cherish for years to come.

Communicate the details for these must have wedding photos.
If you have decided on seeing your groom before the ceremony, you will want to tell your photographer where and how you’d like these photos to be. A beautiful setting like a lush garden or lovely foyer at the ceremony site makes the perfect backdrop for darling photographs. Next, decide on the exact time you will meet, and have your groom wait there for you to make your entrance. I have seen some brides walk down a hallway towards their grooms and others who like to sneak up behind them and see their face as they turn around. There are many options for unique wedding photo ideas concerning this moment. However you decide to see your groom for the first time, make sure that you are both fully dressed for the ceremony!![]() | ![]() |

My sister is trying to decide if she wants to have a first look with her fiance and my mom is a bit on the traditional side, I will have to pass the post along to both of them!
I really like the idea of the bride seeing the groom before the wedding, but not at the same time (the picture of the bride and groom holding hands around the pillar). It really is a unique picture, but shows the anticipation between the two soon-to-be newlyweds. I love it!
My fiance and I originally did not want a first look, but was advised by so many brides that having an intimate moment before the ceremony and reception was much needed since the rest of the time was filled with family and friends. Also with the anticipation that I will end up a big mess crying I wanted to get that out of the way before the “I Do’s” so I am able to actually get my vows out! :)
