How To Prepare For Your Formalwear Appointment

We believe the groom and groom's party deserve just as much attention as the bride and her bridesmaids, but many people aren’t sure how to choose a nice suit or tuxedo for their wedding. Here are some ways in which grooms can prepare for their wedding shopping appointment in our formalwear department.

Formalwear Appointment Tips

Make An Appointment

By setting an appointment, a specialized consultant will be assigned to work with you for your 90-minute appointment. They will familiarize themselves with your general style preferences, making it that much easier for you to find the perfect wedding attire.

Do Your Homework

Figure out which styles you like by browsing online and bring pictures to your appointment before you come in. Also, bring a swatch of any colors you are trying to match (for example, if you are trying to match the groomsmen’s vests or ties to the bridesmaids’ dresses).

Bring Information

Bring all the information you have for your wedding party with you to your appointment: groomsmen’s names and phone numbers, fathers’ names and phone numbers, ring bearers’ names and their parents’ phone numbers, ushers’ names and phone numbers, and anyone else you plan on having rent wedding suits or wedding tuxedos.

4 Common Questions About Formalwear Appointments

Q. What if I don't know much about formalwear?

A. Your consultant can put together a few looks they think will be great for you and your wedding party. Keep in mind that they know the designers, fabrics, colors, etc., and can offer tons of expertise. Keep in mind that while we do have most items in-store for you to see, we do not carry enough stock for you to try them on in your size.

Q. Can I take photos?

A. Feel free to take pictures of your favorite looks. We love our customers and love seeing what they have chosen, so make sure you also share your looks with us on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest, and Instagram!

Q. I found what I like. Now what?

A. Once you have found your wedding attire, your consultant will fill out your contract and have you fill out all of your wedding party’s information. They will then take your measurements and choose the size that will fit you best. All of your wedding party’s measurements are due at least six weeks before the wedding, and all rentals are paid for at the time of pick-up.

Q. Will I need alterations on our rentals?

A. We order your tuxedo or suit according to your measurements, in hopes to limit the amount of alterations. However, most rentals still requires minor alterations to achieve a perfect fit such as length adjustments or sleeve shortening. The Wedding Shoppe will do complimentary minor alterations on your tuxedo.
