Unique DIY Wedding Favors Your Guests Will Remember
It’s your big day, so aren’t you the one getting the presents? Well, yes, but it’s also customary for you to give your guests a little token to take home with them. More and more couples have switched to DIY wedding favors because they reduce costs while remaining even more heart-felt. Whatever your reason, finding unique DIY wedding ideas can be rather difficult. While “Mint to Be” mints are “punny”, I know you want your gift to stand out! Here are a few unique favor ideas your guests will remember. DIY Wedding Favors

DIY wedding favors your guests can use again.

Reusable items are all the rage, from grocery bags to coffee cups. Integrate some of these into your plans for great DIY wedding gifts. --If you ceremony is outside, why not print your programs on a fan? This will allow your guests to stay cool as they watch your ceremony, and they can use it again. --Whether used for a signature cocktail or some Diet Coke, everyone will need a glass at the reception. Provide each guest with a personalized glass (names are key!) he or she can take home. Maybe Mason jars filled with lemonade fixings or coffee mugs with hot cocoa ingredients? --Are you a music lover? Create a mix CD of your wedding playlist or favorite love songs. This personalized favor will have memories pouring through their speakers every time it’s played.

Cater to your own strengths.

You don’t want to be stuck in the kitchen the last two weeks before your weekend if you hate baking, or making crafts if you’re not artistic! Stick to what you know and what others know about you. --If you’re a whiz in the garden, think of proving your guests with little pots of hens and chicks succulents. They grow easily and add beauty to any table. --If you prefer the kitchen, maybe you want to send your guests home with a homemade reminder of your culinary prowess? Handmade jams, pickles, mini-pies, and cookies are always a hit. The canned goods are helpful because they can be done in advance, but the baked goods will keep your hands busy in those days leading up to the event (stress reliever!). --Don’t have time to make those cookies and pies? Compile your best recipes in a cook book each guest can take home! --One of my favorite ideas is a handmade breakfast kit for the morning after. Ingredients could be instant coffee, homemade scones and jam, water, a Blood Mary kit, or even a few Tylenol for the guests who had a lot of fun.

Gather the troops.

You don’t have to do this alone. If you decide to make every person a paper crane with his or her name written in calligraphy on the wing, that’s wonderful, but please don’t make it a solo mission! Enlist your mother, your maid of honor, your best friends, and of course your partner. He needs to get in there and make paper flowers and bedazzle those dragonflies right along with you—because that’s love.

Thinking about having my family make our own soaps. My family has connections to a farm and making soap out of goat milk is my idea. Something different and something people reuse.
