Jill and Justin's Wedding: A Fabulous Fall Fête
Many of our Wedding Shoppe, Inc. brides capture & hold our attention - even long after their wedding ceremony. Jill (Topp) Metz is one such lovely lady. Jill and Justin were married on October 24, 2009 at St. Olaf College, with the beautiful fall foliage as a the perfect backdrop. Jill has shared some of her favorite real wedding highlights with us, on My Wedding Chat.In her own words, here’s what Jill had to say about the Big Day:
When you are planning a wedding, advice is thrown at you from every direction. Some of it is helpful, some... not so much. I recall being told, over-and-over again, how fast the day would go by, and to remember to take it all in. All I remember…it was all about me and him, him being my husband, Justin; MY HUSBAND?! Holy cow!!! I am a lucky woman to call this man my husband! I first began looking for my wedding dress about 4 months after we got engaged. Again, I was given advice to shop around and that is just what I did. I found a couple dresses I liked at another location and had an appointment scheduled at The Wedding Shoppe shortly thereafter. What can I say except The Wedding Shoppe’s dresses blew the rest out of the water! I probably tried a handful of dresses at WSI but hadn’t found IT just yet. I kept describing my “dream dress” to Carolyn Fritz as timeless and glamorous, whatever that meant?! Well she found it for me! I loved the shape the dress gave me. It was the perfect amount of glitz, romance, and sophistication. I didn’t just like this dress, I LOVED it! I work in the event industry and have brides ask my advice and for referrals all the time. Of course I immediately send them to WSI. The professionalism, yet fun women that work for WSI made my wedding dress shopping experience everything I could expect and more, much more!A few tidbits about our day…
- Justin’s only request – we served meatloaf. It’s both of our favorites and we wanted to do something different. - My Wedding Dress, my mom’s Mother of the Bride dress, flower girl’s dresses and wedding tuxedos were all from the Wedding Shoppe. My wedding dress was an elegant Casablanca bridal gown and our flower girls dresses were adorable little numbers from Dessy (style FL4001).-I wore earrings borrowed from my great aunt Helen
-My veil was my mom’s which she wore on her wedding day over 40 years ago. I look up to my parents who have been married for 47 years. Call me superstitious but I figured it would bring me luck on my wedding day and in our marriage. It was an honor to wear it. -The hair piece I put in my hair after I took my veil out was a one-of-a-kind headpiece from Wedding Shoppe, Inc. I hope to pass it down to my daughter someday. -Centerpieces – we had three different centerpieces, one of which was curly willows with pictures of loved ones who had passed hanging from it. This was important to me since I had a brother who had passed away and was not there to share in our day. Other’s included grandparents and aunts and uncles of ours. -Cake – Ole Café, Northfield, MN. We served three flavors: Chocolate with a layer of chocolate mousse and white chocolate buttercream frosting, Carrot Cake w/ cream cheese frosting (another favorite of both mine and Justin’s) and vanilla with strawberry mouse layer and white chocolate buttercream frosting. The cake was delicious! We still have people comment on how it good it was. -Band – Synergy (just named MN Bride Magazine Best of 2010 Band). Our guests never left the dance floor. I know I’m bias but I don’t think I’ve ever been to a wedding dance that was more fun than ours. We specifically requested Gwen because that lady can belt it out! She sang ‘At Last’ for our first dance it was incredible and defiantly grabbed the attention of all out guest to look toward the dance floor -Ceremony Location – Boe Memorial Chapel on the Campus of St. Olaf College, Northfield, MN -Reception Location – Brackett’s Crossing Country Club, Lakeville, MN -Flowers – Judy’s Floral Design, Northfield, MN. Judy was wonderful to work with. Her flexibility and knowledge of floral design sets her apart from the rest. Plus, she was incredibly reasonable!!! -Photography – Spencer Combs, Spencer Combs Photography. Spencer, Spencer, Spencer….! Spencer is full of life and it shows in his work. He is the most positive and fun individual I think I have ever met and probably will ever meet. Plus, his photos are amazing! We couldn’t have been happier with them. -Two friends of mine sang the vocals during our ceremony – I don’t think there was a dry eye from my bridesmaids. It was beautiful and so much more wonderful than I could have expected. As fall approaches, we are all yearning for apple cider, cozy blankets and glowing wedding stories, such as this one. If you would like to share your story with us, we would love to hear it; in fact, it makes our day. So, send them to us—we have the tissues ready. ~xoxo~ Brittney Madsen Other Posts You'll Love: A Happy Bride: Shauna's Wedding Shoppe Inc.
