It’s Wedding Season but I have Nothing to Wear: What to Wear to a Wedding!
The rules of what to wear to a wedding aren’t often discussed, and can sometimes be quite vague. The only thing we all know for sure is to not wear white. No worries, friend—the girls at the Wedding Shoppe are here to help! We’ve got two great looks for you today; one that is perfect for a daytime or semi-formal  wedding and another that is great to wear to a casual wedding.

What to wear to a wedding: Semi-formal, day and night.

Semi-formal is the broadest wedding attire category. It feels like it could be anything. When semi-formal is requested it’s best to err on the side of formality and wear a cocktail dress or a great skirt and blouse. Jen (our resident word nerd) volunteered herself to model two great looks for one great dress that you can dress for a casual or semi-formal wedding.

When picking what to wear to a day wedding choose lighter colors and fabrics. A great dress made of chiffon would flutter nicely in the summer air and make you blend into the crowd while standing out as B-E-A-U-tiful. Jen chose to accessorize her wedding attire with multiple strands of pearls, a fun animal print belt with gold buckle and a great retro, gold purse along with a cute pair of summer wedges. Each of these accessories amps up the formality, especially since they are gold. Ladies, take note: I’m going to advocate for wearing wedges. You never know where a wedding is going to be and wedges are a great all-terrain shoe.

What to wear to a casual wedding decoded:

The only thing worse than being told to “dress semi-formal” for a wedding is for the invitation to say “dress casual.” What on earth do you wear for casual summer wedding attire? Figuring out what to wear to a casual wedding is easy if you stick to a few simple rules: One: Always wear a dress or nice pants. Two: Do NOT wear jeans. Three: Be comfortable but also feel dressed up.

I’m loving Jen’s casual wedding look. She took that same stunning blue chiffon dress and gave it funky accessories, flat sandals, fun hair and a simple clutch. When you can have fun with your wedding attire, you’ll be able to dress within dress code and be comfortable enough to dance the night away. Whether you’re trying to figure out what to wear to a casual wedding or trying to find out what to wear to a day wedding, it’s always safe to dress a little better than you’re thinking. Who knows… there might be someone at that wedding you need to impress, and some snazzy summer wedding attire just might catch their eye! Plus! We’re launching a new series on the blog on Friday that you won’t want to miss! Oh, and rumor has it, there is going to be a giveaway... perhaps.
