The story of us.

Jeremy and I had been together since January 2007 before getting engaged the last week of February 2010. While it was romantic and important I don’t remember the exact date! We were discussing our future together that night and when/how we were going to take me and my 9-year-old son out to our new house. We made the decision not to move in together until after we were married and were trying to figure out a timeline for our future. While we were talking, Jeremy came around beside, got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Of course I said yes and we told my son, Cole, right away the next morning. We were all three excited to become a family.

Trying to find the 'one.'

The Wedding Shoppe came highly recommended from friends and family. I decided to make an appointment the end of May for a consultation when I would be in the Cities for my bridal shower and my sister’s baby shower. In May I would have all 3 bridesmaids, my mom and grandma with me to help pick out the perfect dress.  However, I started getting worried about the timeframe and wanted to make sure I could get the dress I wanted in time for our October wedding so I changed the appointment for mid-March.  Before my appointment I tried on the Maggie Sottero Bridal Gown Desirae at a local wedding store and loved how I looked in it, how it flowed, the beautiful bead work and the style… but I wasn’t sure it was the ‘one’.

The dress.

When I got to the Wedding Shoppe for my appointment it was wonderful as soon as we walked in the door. I had Jeremy and Cole with me because it was spring break and we were down in the Cities to do some other fun things. A little unconventional but it worked, Cole brought his Nintendo-DS and Jeremy brought himself!  I couldn’t have imagined trying on my dress for anyone else. Jeremy’s opinion was the most important.  I was able to bring the boys with me to watch me prance around in dresses and Jeremy was able to give me some good feedback. The associate that helped me at the Wedding Shoppe was helpfully honest and very encouraging.  We left that day without a dress. I felt pretty indecisive! That weekend, while we were still in the Cities, I was browsing through the Wedding Shoppe’s website and all of a sudden I came across Desirae!  I called the following Tuesday and ordered the Maggie Sottero dress in ivory. I was ecstatic!  Everything had worked out perfectly! I got a call in August that my dress was in, early!  Because it had been such a busy summer I decided Cole deserved a weekend in the Cities doing some fun things like the Como Zoo, MOA and getting together with friends. So we drove down to get my dream dress. I didn’t bring him with to pick up my dress; I figured one trip to the Wedding Shoppe was enough for a 9-year-old boy.

Completing the look.

I was lucky enough to bring my childhood friend/bridesmaid with me to pick up the dress.  Again, I arrived at the Wedding Shoppe and the staff was amazing. I went up to my room, tried on my dress with my jewelry and it fit perfectly!  The associate brought me up a pair of peep-toe shoes that matched and fit perfectly.  My wedding day was complete! The week of the wedding, I decided to get a veil. I was originally dead set against it because I did not want to cover up a single stitch of my dress. My sister and I went to a local wedding shop and I found a fairly simple veil that matched my Desirae perfectly.  Now I was complete. Putting my dress, veil, jewelry, shoes, and make-up on before my wedding was such an amazing feeling. Without the Wedding Shoppe who knows what dress I would have settled for instead of finding the dress that I loved. Thank you so much for making my day complete!
