Sarah’s Top 12: Spring 2011 Designer Bridesmaid Dresses

To kick off the New Year, we are going to tell you what our top picks are from the New Spring 2011 Collections.  Since we all have very different taste, we each came up with our own list of Top 12 Designer Wedding Dresses and Designer Bridesmaid Dresses.  We have no idea what the other person’s list is so we may have some similar dresses or some completely different!  I know I am very excited to present my list to you, but I am also excited to see what my fellow Wedding Shoppe, Inc. ladies have chosen for theirs – I know they will be amazing no matter what.

I am going to start with my top 12 designer bridesmaid dresses; I will save the wedding dresses for later since they are a bit more exciting!

With so many dresses to choose from it's hard to pick only 12.

Sarah's 12 favorite designer bridesmaid gowns:

When I look at all these designer bridesmaid gowns I try to find what is re-wearable.  Being a bridesmaid can be extremely expensive between the bridal shower gifts, shoes, dress, hair, make-up, wedding gift, etc. I know when it’s my turn to plan my wedding, one of my goals would be to find designer bridesmaid gowns my girls can wear again; they spend a lot, I would hope they love their dresses!  I chose the following dresses based on that goal, and of course also using my own taste and style!  I hope my friends and other brides agree with the rewearable (and very cute) factor on each of these:

12.) Love by Enzoani Bridesmaid Dress C20

One of my favorite things about Love by Enzoani is their attention to detail.  The beading and decoration that goes into each dress is exquisite!  What I love even more about this Love by Enzoani Bridesmaid Dress C20 is the draping and ruched detailing completing the gown, and of course the jeweled waistline.  This entire dress cascades with elegance; even looking at the back, that is bustled just so, and flows into a soft sweep train.  Although this could not be shortened, it can be worn again to dressier evening event.

11.) Jim Hjelm Bridesmaid Dress JH5117T

This Jim Hjelm Bridesmaid Dress JH5117T made my list because I think it's sweet meets sassy.  The sweetheart neckline is one of the most popular necklines right now, and with a great hemline and asymmetrical draping, you have yourself an amazing little designer bridesmaid dress.  I also love how the back comes to a little v-point, too.  Besides this being an very re-wearable designer bridesmaid dress, the best part about it is the option of a matching necklace.  A quick and easy way to pick out your girls' necklaces, they don’t cost very much and can easily be worn again.

10.) Dessy Bridesmaid Dress 2818

The Dessy Group is an awesome company.  I love their variety of colors, and many of their dresses come in short or long options, such as Dessy Bridesmaid Dress 2818.  I really like the higher neckline with the tiny slit, and of course LOVE the pockets.  This dress is made out of silk shantung, a textured fabric that really brings the dress to life.

9.) Watters and Watters Bridesmaid Dress 8510

This Watters and Watters Bridesmaid Dress 8510 is so fun I can’t stop looking at it.  I want this to wear out in the Twin Cities – pair it with some really cute shoes, and you are good to go!  The sheer neckline, ruffle bodice, and floral décor on the natural waistline are all so perfect, creating such a fun and unique dress.

8.) Jim Hjelm Bridesmaid Dress JH5125

Jim Hjelm Bridesmaid Dress JH5125 is so elegant for any wedding.  I typically stray away from the mermaid, fit and flare, and trumpet style designer bridesmaid gowns because I think they are more suited for a bridal gown, but this trumpet gown is so incredibly stunning.  From head-to-toe this dupioni dress is perfect, but my favorite part is the back.  I always enjoy flirty attributes to any dress, and this open back is very flirtatious.  Can you imagine shortening this after the wedding and rewearing it?  It would be such a sassy little dress; you would wear it over and over again because you wouldn’t be able to get enough of it.

7.) Jasmine Bridesmaid Dress B4034

Jasmine always has a great variety of bridesmaid dresses and plenty of colors to choose from.  It was hard to pick from their huge collection, but the ruffled skirt on this Jasmine Bridesmaid Dress B4034 is so darling I had to put this on my list.

6.) Alfred Angelo Bridesmaid Dress 7132

Alfred Angelo Bridesmaid Dress 7132 is actually the dress I am wearing in my brother’s wedding this coming August, only in black. This ended up being "the one" after trying on many dresses, but with the sweetheart neckline it went perfectly with her Sottero and Midgley wedding dress.  We all are excited to wear it long for the wedding, but also excited to alter it into a cute black cocktail dress after the wedding.

5.) After Six Bridesmaid Dress 6604

After Six is one of the many companies that make up the Dessy Group.  This After Six Bridesmaid Dress 6604 made the list because I love how flowy the dress is.  The halter neckline makes it unique, and the fitted bodice offers a nice contrast to the flowy skirt.

4.) Lela Rose Bridesmaid Dress LR147

Lela Rose is another line from the Dessy Group, and is one of my favorites.  Lela Rose Bridesmaid Dress LR147 is soft and sweet; I think the flower really adds to such a simple dress, and I always love big embellishments.  You can choose between long and short, and you could wear it again either way.  I love it in this charcoal color, but it comes in lots of other options, too.

3.) Bari Jay Bridesmaid Dress 227

Another one of my all time favorite bridesmaid companies is Bari Jay.  Bari Jay not only creates lines so every type of bride can find a bridesmaid dress in their collections, but they are very affordable.  I pretty much drool when I look at this Bari Jay Bridesmaid Dress 227.  I love the deep v-neck with a floral halter, but my favorite part is the back.  The loose draping with a little open back feature is very flirtatious.  There are plenty of colors to choose from, too.

2.) Watters Bridesmaid Dress 8477

Watters and Watters Bridesmaid Dress 8477 is my number two dress because it is so unique.  The high neck design, the beautifully decorated belt, and the pockets combine to create a darling dress.  Watters and Watters calls this dress "urban chic," especially in this Hyacinth dupioni silk and black crinkle chiffon belt, and I completely agree.  Find some cute shoes to go with this fun frock and strut all over town!

1.) Jim Hjelm Bridesmaid Dress JH5102T

In my co-worker Brittney’s words, I “love, love, love” this!  Yes, Brittney uses three "loves" when she likes an idea or dress, so I had to whip it out for Jim Hjelm Bridesmaid Dress JH5102T.  This full tulle dress is so sweet, with a dainty ballerina feel to it, and I just love it. Well, those are my top 12 designer bridesmaid gowns.  What are your favorites?  What didn’t you like?  What would you have liked to see on here?  Be on the lookout for my top 12 designer wedding dresses, along with Brittney and Laura’s top 12 lists!

I’m pretty good at coming up with dress designs of my own that I would love to see actualized, I would just love to know how to transfer them from paper to living fabric. Where the designs were always meant to be.
