Featured Bride, Mary L. | Wedding Location: Braham, MN | Wedding Date: October 1, 2011 Picking your wedding flowers. There are so many choices when it comes to planning for your wedding flowers! One big question you want to tackle first is real or fake. Some people will tell you that real wedding flowers are a complete waste of money, but my fiancé and I chose to go with real because we just felt they would look better. Granted, if you are talented, you can make fake look fabulous, but this girl doesn’t have that talent! That’s why we decided to talk to Connie, one of our local florists at Braham Country Floral. She does excellent work and her prices are very reasonable! Unique creations. Tim and I met with Connie to discuss several options, and she was very open to our ideas. Our wedding colors are rather non-traditional, as we are accenting with leopard print, so we wanted to find something that would both coordinate with that and our chocolate brown bridesmaid’s dresses. I also prefer a simple bouquet that will really showcase the true beauty of the flowers. However, Connie is doing some custom work for us to incorporate leopard print into the bouquets and boutonnieres! Not many aspects of our wedding will be traditional. However, when my parents got married, my mom carried white roses, carnations, and daisies. I really liked the idea of doing something my parents did at their wedding, so I told Connie I wanted to do all white flowers for my bouquet, too. She thought this was a great way to pay homage to my mom (plus, they are friends so she loved the idea even more!). I did want some variation, and because my favorite flower is the gerbera daisy, my bouquet will consist of white roses, carnations and gerberas. And since we are having a fall wedding, I wanted to bring in some “fall” colors, so my bridesmaids will be carrying white and burnt orange gerberas. Get inspiration. One thing I did before meeting with Connie was to look at different bouquets online. I chose to look on The Knot, just because there are so many to choose from, and you can narrow it down by color. By looking there, I was able to figure out what I did and didn’t want for our bouquets. I think this really helped Connie too, because I had printed out a couple that I liked, and she was able to get a vision of what I was looking for. It allowed us to spend more time at our appointment discussing what we wanted, rather than having to waste time on what we didn’t. Now we just have to wait to see how fabulous the wedding flowers will look! ~~ Other Posts We Think You’ll Love: Finding “THE” Dress Finding the Perfect Bridesmaid Dresses Choosing Your Wedding Photographer Let’s Be Friends!
