I don’t think you often hear a guy's perspective on here, so hopefully this will be an entertaining little read. I was asked by a special someone to post a blog, and I figured, “Why not?” Anything I can do to put a smile on the girl's face that I'm spending the rest of my life with! My future bride Kelsi has been giving readers on “My Wedding Chat” wedding advice throughout our engagement. She shared our proposal story, but what about marriage proposal ideas for your own special someone? Are you considering how to propose to your girlfriend, or just want a guy’s point of view? Here’s my side of how the proposal went down to help you out.
My many marriage proposal ideas.I had been thinking of marriage proposal ideas for my one and only for quite a while. Once upon a time, we were high school sweethearts, but had a falling out. When this happened, I joined the Navy and she continued on with college. Years later, and shortly after hitting things off and falling for each other all over again, I went on a month long underway period with my ship. During that time, I did nothing but daydream about marriage proposal ideas until I came up with the perfect one. Finding the right ring took a little longer, but that's another story for a different day.
Getting the courage to get down on one knee.If you’re considering how to propose to your girlfriend, I should warn you that the nerves will kick in sooner or later, so be prepared! I’m usually very excited to go home when I decide to take vacation; this time was a little different. I was so anxious that I couldn't sit still on the plane. That anxiety slowly turned into nervousness as I rode down the escalator in my Navy Dress Blue uniform toward the baggage claim where she was standing. She saw me and ran towards me. I can only imagine how confused she must have been when I stopped her from hugging or kissing me and asked, "Do you remember how you wanted me to tell you right away if I ever stopped loving you?" She said, "Mmhmm," with the same confused look she had on her face when I didn't hug or kiss her right away. I then said to her, "Well, that's never going to happen, babe. I'll NEVER stop loving you."
She said, “Yes!”After saying this, I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me, right there in the middle of the airport. Of course she said, “Yes!” Praise the Lord too, because it not only would have been devastating, but really embarrassing with all of those people around! So a year later, and after a long deployment with my ship, I'm going home to Minnesota to stand in front of all our friends and family with my beautiful bride, to celebrate the beginning of the rest of our lives together. I hope you enjoyed our story, and that I helped you come up with your own marriage proposal ideas!
