Alli and Pete's wedding proposal!

How we met...

Pete and Alli have her cousin Marc to thank for introducing the two of them. In July of 2003, Marc and Alli each invited some friends to the Dave Mathews concert at Alpine Valley in Wisconsin. Marc brought his friend Pete, who he thought would be the perfect match for Alli. Shortly after meeting, there were several trips back and forth between Green Bay and Minneapolis before the couple endured six months apart while Alli studied in France. The visits became more frequent after Alli graduated from college and Pete eventually made the move to Minnesota. The couple lived in St. Paul for two years until building a house in Blaine, where they currently live with their new puppy, Chloe.

The wedding proposal...

Pete and Alli were on a short weekend trip to Lake Geneva (only a few miles from where they first met) to celebrate their 6 year anniversary. The room  opened up to the beautiful marina. Pete told Alli they had dinner reservations at 7pm that night. While walking to the resort restaurant Pete suggested a short detour along the marina before dinner. Docked outside the restaurant was a beautiful, large, old wooden boat with a captain waiting beside it. Pete said "How about we take a ride on this?". Alli thought he was joking and laughed it off until she realized that he wasn't kidding and that boat was waiting for them. Pete had arranged a sunset cruise on Lake Geneva with just the two of them and captain Steve. About 15 minutes into the ride on the Loralei Pete offered Alli a glass of wine. He came back with two glasses and handed Alli the glass with a plastic diamond ring at the bottom. Meanwhile Pete got down on one knee and said, "Like in the Dave Mathews song, 'You and me together we can do anything', Alli, will you marry me?" Alli of course said yes and they enjoyed the rest of the sunset cruise. When they returned to the marina, Alli couldn't help herself and shouted out "We're engaged!" to the crowd on the dock who responded with cheers. Afterwards they had a very romantic dinner at the resort with champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. It was the perfect end to the perfect proposal.
