September 17th, 2011 As Featured Bride Shayne M. patiently awaits for her Fiance to return from overseas in Afghanistan, she looks back and shares their lovely engagement story with us on My Wedding Chat.
Before Andrew deployed overseas to Afghanistan, he spent about a month in Mississippi training for his deployment. While he was in Mississippi, he was given a four day pass to spend however he wanted--sort of like a mini vacation. I flew down to Mississippi for those four days to spend time with him. I skipped a few days of school and made the connecting flights all the way down to Mississippi. The time I spent with Andrew in Mississippi was absolutely amazing. We did nothing but enjoy each other's company and spend time together. Finally, on the last day of my visit we went out for a romantic dinner. When we came back to the hotel I could tell something was going to happen, because Andrew was acting a little nervous. Then it happened! Andrew took my hand, got down on one knee, and told me that he couldn't imagine his life without me. He said there was never a doubt in his mind that I was the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. He wanted me to be his wife, so we could be together for the rest of our lives. Without hesitation, I of course said yes! He didn't have the ring, as it was being custom made just for me. He had planned to propose when he came home in February 2011 for two weeks, but it wasn't a guarantee he would be able to come back. So, he proposed in September 2010, so we could be married in September 2011 on his grandfather's birthday. I could not have been happier. Even though being newly engaged made it all the harder to say goodbye, we have less than three months left until he's home for good! So many exciting things happening with such little time!
