Greetings and salutations! I’m loving this “how to dress your body” series! Seriously, we see girls every day in store at the Wedding Shoppe who are all shapes and sizes and don’t really know what gown will look best on them. That’s why we’re doing this; we want you to look and feel gorgeous in whatever gown you choose. Last week we talked about what to wear for the banana body shape
; this week let’s discuss the classic hourglass featuring some of our fave Da Vinci wedding gowns. An hourglass body shape is defined as having equal weight in the bust and hips while having a very defined waist.
The best style of dress for hourglass shape: The classic A-line.
You might be noticing this trend: almost any body type looks great in an A-line dress. Shh…it’s our little secret. In all seriousness, when you’re trying to figure out how to choose a wedding dress, always start with an A-line gown. It will highlight your waist whether it’s defined or not, will make your hips slimmer, and will give your “girls” great support and definition. If you are an hourglass shape you’ll find that an A-line gown will make you feel gorgeous, covered, and elegant. Da Vinci wedding gowns are some of my favorites for the classic A-line. I love A-line dresses because they show that you know how to dress for your body type (and, let’s face it: they make you look like Cinderella, and what bride doesn’t want to feel like Cinderella?).
How to dress for your body type: Fit and flare.
The fit and flare style is the pinnacle of sassy Da Vinci wedding gowns. If you’re an hourglass you will look fierce in this style, because it’s fitted throughout the bust, waist, hips, and mid thigh. It’s similar to the mermaid style in its fitted shape but flares out a little higher on the body. The fit and flare is literally the best style of dress for hourglass shape because it accentuates all of your assets, it’s supportive, and it’s absolutely jaw dropping. Don’t be afraid to show off what you’ve got! No matter what your weight, if you are an hourglass shape you will look gorgeous in an A-line or fit and flare dress from Da Vinci wedding gowns. Just remember to accentuate that waist of yours!
We are halfway through our how to dress for your body type series! Whoa! We’ve talked about how to choose a wedding dress if you’re a banana shape
, and now an hourglass shape. Next Monday we’re going to discuss how to choose a wedding dress if you’re an apple…”orange” you glad I didn’t say banana? If you’re learning from the series or have anything you want to share (we love to chat!) send us an e-mail
