72 days and counting.

Well we are getting down to the wire! I had a mild freak-out when the government shut down; I was worried that we wouldn’t get our marriage license.  Thankfully, I was told the license itself comes from the county, and is filed with the state after the wedding.  Not to sound like a totally cliché Minnesotan, but...uffda!

The wedding bands.

Our wedding bands are purchased and in our possession.  Goodman’s was great with their service!  It actually took Aaron longer than me to decide which ring he wanted, and I have a non-traditional ring that is hard to find something to go with.  Instead of getting a simple white gold band, he picked a beautifully intricate titanium ring with diamonds.  Men are funny!

The invites.

Invites have been sent out, all handmade and embossed. It was a family affair; my dad even helped!   Showers have been planned, and I’m taking a small break before I start on bouquets and boutonnieres.

The wine.

This past weekend we made a road trip to Alexandria and Bemidji to pick up the remaining cases of wine for the wedding.  We chose to try to keep everything locally based as part of our vintage-themed wedding.  The wines are from four vineyards around Minnesota: Goose Lake Vineyards in Elk River, Winehaven in Chisago City, Carlos Creek Winery in Alexandria, and Forest Edge Winery in La Porte. We ordered 130 cases total, and all the vineyards were wonderful to work with.  We even received a few free bottles and a gift of a bottle opener from Forest Edge as a wedding present! I’m still not sure how to have the wines presented, either on a table or at the bar. Any suggestions? So far the drama hasn’t been too bad, either.  Here’s looking to a relaxing few weeks before the hard stuff begins!
