Featured Bride, Sarah T.: Attending a Bridal Fair

Discover how Sarah attended a bridal fair to narrow down her favorites.

Featured Bride, Sarah T., Wedding Location: St. Paul, MN  |  Wedding Date: April 10th, 2010

After telling the story of how I got engaged and where we are getting married, I’m going to talk about how I found my perfect dress! I wasn’t a girl who grew up dreaming of a huge princess dress so I really had no idea what I wanted. I started by grabbing a ton of wedding magazines and browsing through all of the different pictures. This really helped me narrow down some of my favorite dress styles and designers. After that, I went online to look up the different designer’s websites so I could see more of their collections. I had a few ideas in mind but knew there were a lot of wedding dress stores in town.

Sarah shares the “enormous and lavish afternoon” that she and her mother enjoyed at a marvelous bridal fair in the Twin Cities.

My mom and I decided that a good way to see a lot of the different wedding dress companies in the Twin Cities was to go to the wedding fair. This was quite the experience! We were definitely not prepared for the enormous and lavish afternoon that they put together. Some things I saw were completely ridiculous (using real tree trunks for place settings etc.), but I definitely enjoyed all of the cake samples! While we were at the bridal fair we watched some dress fashion shows. Most of the bridal dresses I liked were from 2 different dress shops. I had seen the Wedding Shoppe before, but always had the impression that it was very expensive because of its location and window displays. At the Wedding Fair, they had some great dresses on display! After talking to one of their employees I learned that most dresses they carried were definitely in my budget. Shortly after the Wedding Fair, I set up an appointment at the Wedding Shoppe and went with my mom and Maid of Honor to try on dresses. I tried on about 10 different styles ranging from very simple dresses to huge princess dresses. I won’t share the exact details of my dress in case my fiancé ends up reading this (it’s a secret), but needless to say it is absolutely perfect! The only advice I have is to pick a dress that makes you dance around with excitement and smile all the time! Now that we’re only a month away I’m finalizing a lot more of the details so come back next week to see what I chose for favors and how our dance lessons are going!
