Now that your fiancé has asked you to marry him, it’s your turn to ask your bridesmaids to be in your wedding! I personally had an absolute blast with this process. I knew that I wanted to do something fun, different, and memorable. That’s why I created a “Will you be my bridesmaid?” box for each of my girls. I spent the week after Tony proposed popping back and forth between JoAnn Fabrics, Michael’s, my apartment, and my local liquor store(s), gathering the necessary materials like a crazy person to make boxes for my bridesmaids. And just for the record – I am NOT crafty. This is one of those easy DIY projects you’ll actually enjoy doing!
Gathering the supplies for each “Will you be my bridesmaid?” box.
Even easy DIY projects can require a lot of supplies. I swear I spent hours in the fabric section alone! I ended up walking out of these stores with my very first paint brush, wooden boxes, picture frames, paint swatches, fancy scissors, brown printer paper, and a whole lot of twine and burlap.
Adding the wedding day timeline and a few lines from me.
I first composed an overview of our wedding day timeline and let them know what their roles were going to be (basically, to eat cake, look beautiful, and help wipe away my happy tears!). My favorite part about making each “Will you be my bridesmaid?” box was the little write-ups that I included about each of my girls. I also loved the pictures that I gave each of them (framed of us!).
The final product.
You can do anything you want with your “Will you be my bridesmaid?” box! I’ve heard of other brides including tiny liquor bottles, wine, a bottle of nail polish that matches your wedding theme, tickets to a fun event to do as a group, etc. It’s totally up to you! Here is a list of all of my contents:
- Overview of the wedding day timeline, their roles, my description of each of them, and what their dresses will look like
- Inspiration pictures of their flowers and dresses
- Paint swatches that match my wedding colors
- A framed picture of each girl and me
They said, “Yes!”
As if making these boxes wasn’t fun enough, I then got to deliver them and watch my bridesmaids open them! I can’t even tell you how awesome it was, especially being able to generate such a look and feeling of excitement on nine-year-old Cecelia’s face! It was the perfect way to kick off my wedding planning process with seven of the most important girls in my life. Plan on – Dani
