What to Expect when Choosing Wedding Suits or Wedding Tuxedos
For the Groom. Choosing your attire is just as important as choosing the bridal gown, which is why the tips you’ll find here are similar to the tips for wedding dress shopping. We believe the groom and his attendants deserve just as much attention as the bride and her bridesmaids, but many people aren’t sure how to choose a nice suit or tuxedo for their wedding. Here are some ways in which grooms can prepare for their wedding shopping appointment in our tuxedo department.
Wedding shopping for the groom
Make an appointment. By setting an appointment, a Personal Shopper will be assigned to work with you for your 90-minute appointment. They will familiarize themselves with the information you provided when you made your appointment, such as general style preferences and where and when your wedding is, making it that much easier for you to find the perfect wedding attire.
Get inspired and do your homework. Figure out which styles you like or don’t like by browsing our available styles on WeddingShoppeInc.com. Bring pictures to your appointment before you come in, and bring a swatch of any colors you are trying to match (for example, if you are trying to match the groomsmen’s vests or ties to the bridesmaids’ dresses). You can also read our tuxedo FAQs for tons of great information.
Additionally, bring all the information you have for your wedding party with you to your appointment: groomsmen’s names and phone numbers, fathers’ names and phone numbers, ring bearers’ names and their parents’ phone numbers, ushers’ names and phone numbers, and anyone else you plan on having rent wedding suits or wedding tuxedos.
How to choose a nice suit or tuxedo for your wedding party
Trust your Personal Shopper and be honest. Your Personal Shopper can put together a few looks they think will be great for you and your wedding party. Keep in mind that they know the designers, fabrics, colors, etc., and can offer tons of expertise, so give their suggestions a try. That being said, don’t be afraid to tell them if you really dislike something. Their job is to help you find your attire—not what they think you should wear. Also keep in mind that, though we do have most items in-store for you to see, we do not have them in-store for you to try on.
Bring your camera! Feel free to take pictures of your favorite looks. We love our customers and love seeing what they have chosen, so make sure you also share your looks with us on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest, and Instagram!
I found what I like. Now what? Once you have found your wedding attire, your Personal Shopper will fill out your contract and have you fill out all of your wedding party’s information. They will then take your measurements and choose the size that will fit you best. All of your wedding party’s measurements are due at least six weeks before the wedding, and all rentals are paid for at the time of pick-up.
Will I need alterations? We order your tuxedo or suit according to your measurements, in hopes to limit the amount of alterations. However, most menswear still requires minor alterations to achieve a perfect fit. The Wedding Shoppe will do complimentary minor alterations on your tuxedo or suit while you wait.
