Wedding Shoppe Inc.
Stories
My experience with the Wedding Shoppe began the minute that I became engaged July 2008. I currently live in Texas, but I am originally from the Minneapolis area and having my mom & sister still in the cities, I knew that I wanted my wedding gown journey to begin back there.
In September 2008, I was headed up north due to an Aveda hairshow and Hurricane Ike headed our way along the Texas coastline. So, I figured that would be the perfect time to start dress shopping.
When I had contacted the Wedding Shoppe, I was put in touch with a consultant named Misty, and immediately I knew that she was going to be the perfect person to work with. Before arriving in Minneapolis I had e-mailed Misty some pictures of what I liked and what I had felt would work well with my body type. I also let her know what type of budget that I was working with and how important it was to me to stay within it--including alterations!! Misty reassured me that wouldn't be a problem, and there would be plenty of beautiful gowns to choose from.
When my mom, sister and I arrived at the Wedding Shoppe, we realized that it could be a bit overwhelming, but like Misty had said, "everything would be ok, there are plenty of choices, and she is there to help with whatever we needed". Within a minute of arriving, there was Misty, greeting all of us with a smile on her face. I knew then & trusted that everything she had told me was right and this was the place we would find my gown.
Being a hairstylist myself and in an industry that focus' on beauty all day long, I am one of those people who is not a huge shopper for myself. I prefer to make sure that others are taken care of and feel great about themselves, but in this situation, the role was reversed. Not being a shy person I had asked Misty, "How long is this going to take"? You can tell that she doesn't get asked that question very often, and she replied, "Brides typically will find the gown that they end up with in the first three they try on". After hearing that, I felt relieved and realized that she was right. The first gown that I had tried on was EXACTLY what I had pictured myself wearing on my wedding day!! How awesome for me?! Now, Misty being the professional that she is, and knowing that this is the most important day of your life, she had suggested that I try on a few more gowns. Just to make sure that I was 100% sure. So, I did. In different materials, styles & three or four gowns later, Misty knew I was itching to put that first gown back on. Right then, I knew, that was the gown that I was going to get married in!! But wait!! How much was this fabulous gown?? I was too scared to look myself for the fear I went way over budget, so I made Misty look and she reassured me that we were UNDER BUDGET--by half! Whew! What a relief for me. She is definitely amazing at what she does.
Even though my husband and I are living in Texas, being able to go home and find the gown of my dreams and have the experience that I did with Misty at the Wedding Shoppe, is priceless. I received nothing but five star treatment and I will forever refer my friends and family to head there to get their gown. Thank You! Thank You! to Misty and the Wedding Shoppe! A Very Happy Bride,

Matt and I have been dating since 2008 and he popped the question on our spring trip to San Francisco. We're pretty outdoorsy, so on a hike we stopped on a cliff overlooking the San Franscio Bay, the Golden Gate Bridge and the Pacific Ocean. We were chatting about how wonderful the trip had been (this was at the end of it) he said he could think of one thing that would make it more memorable. Completely to my surprise, he then got down on one knee and with that gorgeous backdrop asked me to marry him. (I'm getting all giddy again just writing this to you!)
In keeping with our loves of travel and the outdoors, we've decided to a destination wedding to Puerto Vallarta with the wedding day falling on April 1 (no joke!). We're going to a small all-inclusive resort called Playa Fiesta. We've been to a wedding there before and HIGHLY recommend it to anyone planning a destination wedding. We will have about 60 of our family and friends there along with the pastor from the church I grew up in performing a traditional ceremony.
Destination weddings are the way to go! We hardly have to do any planning and so far the most "stressful" part has been picking the green color of my shoes (from The Wedding Shoppe!) to match our invitation. Bright apple/lime green and aqua are the main colors we're using.

Hi, my name is Christy Hollingsworth, (married name is now Christy Strom, but I’m still getting used to that!) and I married my Aaron on September 25, 2010. I call him “my Aaron” because I have a sister who is also named Erin and because no one ever knows who I am talking about I differentiate between the two by “my Aaron” and “sister Aaron”. I purchased my dress a little over a year before our wedding date. I had found it in a magazine and called all over MN to find a store that had it on stock and no one did. I’ve heard the reputation that the Wedding Shoppe has and really wanted to do business with there so after trying on a few dresses to no avail, I brought in the picture of the one I had found in the magazine. They found a similar dress by the same designer so I was able to see if the shape and look worked for me and after a lot of thinking, I ordered the dress without even trying it on. I loved the picture so much so I just prayed I would love it on me as well! It came in and it magically fit me the way I had hoped. I didn’t really think too much about the dress after that until I was being fitted because I wasn’t too thrilled with the way the bustle looked. It seemed to take away the look of the dress because the train wasn’t very long to begin with and with the bustle it looked like a straight up and down dress with no flare at the bottom. I decided not to bustle it because of that, but I admit I was a little worried that I wasn’t as in love with the dress as I was to begin with. All of that changed though on the wedding day, putting everything together from the shoes to the jewelry to the veil, it was PERFECT. I have never felt more beautiful in my life! I wore my dress with pride that day and think I love it even more now than I did in the beginning. I had so many compliments on how it suited ME and my personality so I think I can say I know myself pretty darn well to be able to order my wedding dress without even trying it on! We had a fabulous celebration and the look on Aaron’s face when we first saw each other is something I will never forget. His tears of happiness and love will forever be a favorite memory of our wedding day. Thank you very much for your wedding guidance and to the custom fitting team in helping my dress fit me perfectly!
Sincerely,
Christy Strom

I just wanted to write and say Thank You for the most amazing Wedding Dress and for making finding that perfect Dress one of the most enjoyable and memorable experiences of my Wedding!
I was so nervous coming into the store… with all those dresses I figured I’d just “look around” any maybe get some ideas for dresses. I mean there was no way I was going to find the dress for me amongst the endless racks of dresses in all those different styles.
After skimming the first row of beautiful white and ivory gowns I heard someone say, “Would you like to try some on?”. Who? Me? No, I couldn’t. I mean I’m just perusing today. I don’t have time to actually get a dress! “What’s your Style? I can pull some things together for you in the fitting room?”. Well, there was that beautiful strapless number I saw in the window on my way in… I have always wanted strapless. Oh, and this one with the tulle and lace appliqué, that might be pretty too! Oh, why not, it can’t hurt!
Two hours later, there I am standing at the register checking out with the most elegant, beautiful, made-for-me gown I could have ever wished for… a huge smile plastered on my face! It wouldn’t have happened with out you! …And that cute strapless number that brought me into the store!
Looking back on photos I am still head-over-heels for that Wedding Gown and wouldn’t change a thing! I truly could not have been happier.
Thank you for making me feel so welcome and taken care of, for fishing through racks and racks of dresses to find one right for me, and for making sure I said “Yes, to the dress”!
