Bridal Gowns:

New wedding dress trends for 2009 seem to be revolving around aspects from one major style: Grecian.  Now this doesn’t mean everyone should run out and pick a gown that looks like it came straight from the Spartans. What it does mean is that the designers are taking influences from that time period and making them into a new up to date style. The 2009 Bridal season will bring soft fabrics, new necklines, romantic embellishments, and graceful lines. Popular styles include satin modified A-Line gowns with organza, chiffon, tulle, and lace overlays. Flowing Sheath gowns in crinkled chiffon and One Shoulder and strapless necklines are the favorites, often embellished with soft flowers and lace appliqués. Ruffled hems and soft lines are in keeping with the romantic theme.

Returning trends that we love too much to let die include ball gowns, pockets, and color! Ball gowns have always been a popular “princess” style but in the last few years updated versions of this silhouette have emerged and are leaning towards a simple elegant style emphasizing beautiful fabrics and shapes rather than heavy beading. Pockets are also a hot trend that combines function and fashion, now there’s no need to fumble with a purse while you dance the night away. Rich colors are also a growing theme that appeared a few years ago and is getting stronger with time. Whether it’s the whole dress or just an under layer,  buttery ivory, champagne, café, gold, peach and pink are popular colors in wedding gowns this year.

Bridal Accessories:

Elbow and Fingertip Veils have always been a traditional favorite but for those brides that want something a little different, try a full pouf veil too add a couture look to your wedding attire, or a French net bird cage veil for some old Hollywood glamour. To really add a fun old fashioned touch to your wedding try a cocktail hat adorned with French net and feathers!

While tiaras are still a must have for many brides, the style of them has changed in recent years. In 2009 we will see smaller, more natural looking tiaras and headbands. Combs, hairpins, flowers and feathers are also becoming highly sought after in the wedding industry. Over all, the hair pieces that accent rather than dominate will be the favorite this year.

Shoes are a wedding accessory that has been thrown by the wayside in recent years; however this year it’s all about finding a fabulous pair of shoes that you can still wear after the wedding. If the shoe screams 'couture' or maybe even 'Carrie Bradshaw' then you know you're on the right track! Try finding a pair of silver shoes that match your beading, or maybe have a pair dyed to your favorite color. It’s not about matching the ivories; it’s about making a statement with an unexpected pop of color.

Now if you took our advice and found one of those amazing gowns with pockets then this tip isn't for you, but for the rest of the blushing brides out there that are opting for a handbag, here are a few styles that will be making the 2009 hot list. Fully beaded bags and hard case clutches are the epitome of vintage chic, or if vintage isn't your style go for a funky fabric or a classic pleated satin bag. The matchy matchy look is out so choose a great bag with some color or pattern too it, this way you'll be able to use it again!

Wedding Party:

As a member of the wedding business for over 30 years, the Wedding Shoppe Inc. has seen all the, shall we say, ‘interesting’ styles that have been trendy for bridesmaids dresses.  Well, this year the ladies are in luck. Fun prints and new colors are taking center stage in the bridesmaid department, not to mention the flirty new silhouettes that you truly would love to wear again. 2009 brings a new base color to wedding planning: Gray. While chocolate brown is still coming in at a close second after dominating last year, gray is the new shining color, and perfect for any season. Colors to pair with the new gray tones include: all shades of purple, soft yellow, fuchsia, tiffany blue, grass green and taupe.
